Why Healthy Work Culture Is Critical

If you’ve been trying to hire new staff recently, you’ll know that it’s a tight market and finding the right people is a challenge. So, when you do find the right people for your team, employee engagement, satisfaction and retention need to be a priority from the moment they join.

Health culture is critical to employee engagement and satisfaction.

We are frequently speaking with people who are ready to leave their current role and starting to explore new opportunities. One reason why people leave their job can be due to company culture, and so, not surprisingly, when people are looking to move into a new role at a new organisation, whilst the role is important, the culture of the company is equally important to them.

I recently read an article that provides great insights for both employees and employers when it comes to company culture (and helps us to understand what a healthy one looks like). It was based on a study of 1,000 managers in Australia, which revealed that a healthy culture is critical to employee engagement and satisfaction.

For employees / job seekers, there are useful tips on how you can identify company culture in the interview process.

For employers and leaders, you can find out what employees are looking for, what you might get asked during the interview process about company culture, and the factors that kill company culture.

The article is written by Shane Hatton, the author of ‘Let’s Talk Culture: The Conversations You Need to Create the Team You Want’. He is an expert in leadership communication, blending his experience in business and psychology to help leaders communicate, connect, and collaborate more effectively in order to bring out the best in those they lead. I hope you find it useful too.
