Gem Spotlight - gretta
The 8th of August is known as International Cat Day. To celebrate, we interviewed Gretta, the feline companion of Gembridge team member Tessa. Keep reading to see what she had to say about cat life.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am Gretta. I’m a Maine Coon which is one of the largest cat breeds in the world! People often say I’m majestic and beautiful so I take any opportunity I can to show off, including crashing mum’s morning meetings (pictured).
Do you have any nicknames?
My friends from the country call me “Gretto”, I’m not a fan. I sometimes go by Nuggie, after my McNugget theft incident. Otherwise, Grettush and Grettulio are my favourites.
What are you passionate about?
Power. What I say, goes and I always get what I want. Most recently, I’ve taken to stealing mum’s puffer jackets for my naps. I even recently tricked her into giving me two breakfasts in one day!
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
When the zoomies hit, I love running around the garden, chasing toys and playing with water. In my downtime, I love a good cupboard nap.
Tell me about the day you met Tessa?
I was so small! I was a little nervous, so I had an accident. I didn’t smell great, but she loved me anyway. I wrapped my smelly arms around her and gave her my loudest and proudest purrs. We’ve been besties ever since.
What was your most embarrassing moment?
Once I leant too hard on the fly wire and fell out the window! I was so scared I tried to climb back up the brick wall. Mum found me in the carpark, a little shaken up but physically fine. Lucky we get 9 lives!
What does your mum love most about you?
Everything, I’m perfect. But mainly the way I can always make her laugh. She loves my quirky personality.
Thanks for sharing with us, Gretta. Happy International Cat Day!
