Professional Development – Seeking & Embracing Opportunities
Professional Development can be a tricky thing to discuss with your manager, but it shouldn’t be a conversation left out altogether. As its name suggests, it will allow you the opportunity to learn and grow within your field, and depending on your level within the team/organisation, there are opportunities to allow you to learn how best to work well with and manage teams.
Start by identifying opportunities/resources that are free, and when you discuss these opportunities with your manager, check if there is a budget for training and development, and discuss with them which would be suitable for your growth and development and find ones within the budget.
When I started at Gembridge, I had the opportunity to embark on a coaching journey and while I didn’t necessarily know what it would look like, went in with an open mind. I had set goals for myself at the start and discussed it with my coach at the beginning. We set a plan on what outcomes we wanted to work towards, and after a couple of sessions I felt like I achieved so much and have come so far.
I'm a firm believer in continuous learning; so why not learn more about yourself in your current season, what drives you and makes you tick, and then look at resources to help you reach new heights.
