Wellbeing Series Initiative... it's a wrap! Check out the poll results...

Our third and final session of our Gembridge Wellbeing Webinar series was held this week with the important topic of Burnout & Exhaustion Watch Outs, very timely given the current environment. Carli Phillips from Corporate Wellbeing Hub shared her own personal story of burnout; how she got there, along with and multiple strategies she used to recover and set herself on a new path of health and wellbeing. She clarified the differences between stress and burnout, early warning signs, technology impacts, prevention and recovery strategies, re-charging and simple action steps that we can all implement to improve our own wellbeing, and look out for others.

WELLBEING, MENTAL HEALTH, ANXIETY, BURNOUT AND EXHAUSTION IN THE ‘FOR PURPOSE’ SECTOR

This final session, along previous sessions, Protecting your wellbeing as a leader and, Enhancing mental health in the ‘new normal’, were informative, full of actionable steps, and of course, timely for the current uncertain environment.

Throughout the series, Carli provided excellent insights, strategies and tips for caring for teams, self-care, reintegration back to the office, building resilience, choosing high impact tasks (the big rocks), preventing burnout and exhaustion and the importance of recharging.

Interactive polls throughout the sessions revealed some interesting (and scary) results. A high percentage of attendees (leaders in the ‘for purpose’ sector) feel exhausted and indicated that high workloads and uncertainty being the main contributors impacting their mental health. With many meetings conducted virtually it is no surprise that screen time has increased, but even Carli gasped when our poll revealed 65% were spending 8+ hours online each day and a further 19% were not far behind with 6-8 hours.  The results are not surprising, after all, we are in a pandemic.

After the pandemic, 80% of our attendees indicated they would like to continue with a hybrid mix of set days in the workplace and at home. We are extremely interested to see how the employment landscape will change and evolve, presenting both opportunities and challenges for both organisations and their teams.

WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE OF THIS INITIATIVE?

Simple, to do something positive for our network during a time of uncertainty, plus enhance our own wellbeing along the way. Through exploring ideas to address our goals to deliver something useful like an accessible and free Corporate Wellbeing Program, designed specifically for the ‘for purpose’ sector, the stars clearly aligned. Through her own consulting business, Carli Phillips’ purpose is “to enhance wellbeing, one person at a time”.

A huge thank you to everyone that participated in one, two or all of these webinars, and of course to Carli for her energy and effort to deliver current, useful and engaging content.
